PLEASE NOTICE...
Social media activists and some celebrities are pushing their followers to add negative, fake Google Reviews for all therapeutic boarding schools without ever having been on the campus, nor experiencing the program. Some of these fake reviewers even say they are past students or students' parents. Their goal is to shut down all such therapeutic programs nationwide. They are also pushing for national legislation that will make it impossible for therapeutic programs to operate. Please keep this in mind as you read Google Reviews, since many are false. Feel free to call us for more information about any program.
Accreditation is optional for private facilities in South Carolina, however, accreditation is one option to satisfy South Carolina’s compulsory attendance statute, as long as the school is a member school of the South Carolina Independent School Association or equal organization. Accredited schools are governed by their accrediting organizations and must meet their specifications regarding teacher certification, curriculum and other areas that state law does not regulate for private schools. Attendance at a nonsectarian private school will also satisfy South Carolina’s compulsory school attendance statute as long as the school is approved by the State Board of Education. Students may also attend parochial, denominational, and church-related schools to satisfies this requirement.
Although no standards have been developed yet, the Attorney General has determined that the State Board of Education has the authority to establish standards for private school approval. Private schools must maintain health and sanitary standards subject to inspection by the Department of Health and Environmental Control.
