There are no official requirement for accreditation for private schools in Georgia, however, in order to participate in the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (GSNS) and/or the Georgia Private School Tax Credit, a private facility must be accredited by a state approved agency.
Teaching certification is not required for private schools in Georgia, although those schools enrolling students under the (GSNS) program must employ only teachers with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Instructors must also have at least three years of experience in health or education. The curriculum must include reading, language, arts, mathematics, social studies and science.
All schools in Georgia are required to meet health and safety standards as set out by local and state ordinances. It is a felony to manufacture, distribute or possess a controlled substance within 1,000 ft of a private school.
