Nevada Therapeutic Boarding Schools

Residential care facilities are licensed by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, under the Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance. Licensing indicates that a residential facility meets the state’s minimum regulatory standards for the population it serves.

For academically centered Nevada therapeutic boarding schools, accreditation is optional, but licensing is mandatory. A private school administrator must hold an administrator’s license issued by the U.S. Department of Education, have a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or a master’s degree with 3 years of experience. Teachers must hold a teaching license and meet the requisite years of experience set by the U.S. Department of Education NAC. Immunization records are required for all students. Private schools are encouraged to participate in Nevada’s state testing programs, but currently they are not required to.
